Target Audience

This activity is intended for physicians, physician’s assistants, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses engaged in the care of patients with pulmonary fibrosis.


Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Explain the pathophysiology of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) based on the most current data
  • Accurately diagnose IPF using a systematic approach
  • Effectively implement key diagnostic procedures including HRCT scanning and surgical lung biopsy
  • Discuss recent evidence for treatments in the management of IPF
  • Recognize components of IPF
  • Describe the role of lung transplantation in IPF, and the factors that affect candidacy and timing
  • Provide patient lifestyle management tools which improve functional status
  • Develop a comprehensive approach to the management of IPF, that includes both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies

Continuing Respiratory Therapist Education

This program has been approved for 16.99 contact hours Continuing Respiratory Care Education (CRCE) credit by the American Association for Respiratory Care, 9425, N. MacArthur Blvd, Suite 100, Irving TX 75063.
Respiratory Therapists must sign the Attendance log for each and must complete the online evaluation within 30 days of the end of the activity to obtain AART credit.

Please go online to CME University www.cmeuniversity.com and register or login (takes less than 1 minute).
Once logged into CME University, follow these steps:

1. Click on the “Find Post-Test/Evaluation by Course:” at the top of the page.

2. Type in “12206” and hit enter.

3. Click on the Activity Title.

4. Choose your profession/type of credit you are seeking.

5. Complete the online Evaluation Form.

Upon completion of the online Evaluation form, you will have immediate access to a certificate of attendance to print or save for your files.
