PFF Disease Education Webinar: Demystifying the Role of Palliative Care in Pulmonary Fibrosis
Dr. Gersten received her B.A. in Biochemistry from Middlebury College and her M.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. She completed Internal Medicine residency at Georgetown University Hospital and a Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she is currently a fellow in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She has a special interest in interstitial lung disease and a passion to improve the delivery of palliative care to this highly symptomatic patient population. She will join Johns Hopkins as Assistant Professor of Medicine with dual faculty appointments in Pulmonary & Critical Care and Palliative Care in July. Her research focuses on evaluation of healthcare-related quality of life measures over time in addition to patient and provider perceptions of palliative care in the ILD population. She plans to start a multidisciplinary Breathlessness & Supportive Care clinical initiative aimed to improve quality of life for patients with advanced lung disease.
